Information on Kaw Valley Living Wage Alliance • Update this informationIn Lawrence, we call upon the City to mandate a Living Wage Guarantee:
namely, that the City shall require all firms that receive tax breaks to expand or locate in Lawrence, and which employ ten or more people, to pay their employees a Living Wage that guarantees them an income no lower than 130 percent of the federal poverty level for a family of three.
In 2001, on the basis of the February 2001 federal poverty guidelines, the Living Wage would be $9.14 per hour with health benefits.
