Information on Douglas County CASA

Update this information

The mission of the Douglas County CASA program, Inc. is to advocate for the best possible permanent placement for each child it represents, to improve local practices pertaining to children, and to create public awareness of the problems of children in Douglas County.

CASA volunteers are trained to speak up for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courts. They are appointed by the judge to review records, research information and talk to everyone involved in the child's case. They monitor the situation so the child remains until a permanent resolution is reached. CASAs ultimately make recommendations to the judge in behalf of the child's best interests.
