Information on Americana Music Academy

Update this information

The Americana Music Academy is Lawrence's only non-profit American roots music school. We offer lessons in guitar, bass guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, banjo, accordian, harmonica, piano, drums and horns; as well as, stringed instrument repair, recording technology & music theory. We also offer various workshops throughout the year hosted by well known musicians, along with several speciality classes.

Americana Music Academy is very pleased to offer a Music Therapy program which is the prescribed use of music and therapeutic music techniques, by a qualified music therapist, to assist or motivate a person toward specific non-musical goals such as communication and physical coordination skills. Music therapists use their training as musicians, clinicians and researchers to effect positive change in cognitive, social, physiological and psychological skills.

Music Therapy benefits children, adolescents, adults and the elderly with mental health needs, developmental and learning disabilities such as Autism and ADD, Alzheimer's disease and other aging related conditions, substance abuse problems, brain injuries, physical disabilities, and acute and chronic pain, including mothers in labor.

Please contact us for more information or to receive a current catalog of classes.
