Monies raised from the tournament returned to the community to promote youth baseball. Here are some recent examples: Free State High School - dugouts for baseball field; improvements for Ice Field at Holcom Complex; and support of Louie Holcom Amateur Baseball Assn.

The tournament in 1999, which will return to Kansas University, will be the third year for the use of wood bats. Teams from Kansas and the surrounding states particpate in a four-day round robin format.

The tournament has gained in popularity with the use of the wood bat and the availabilty of playing at KU's field.
