Love Quilts
Each year we make 40 nap quilts for the children of Head Start, headquartered at the Plymouth Congregational Church.
Love Quilts are "nap" size quilts approximately 40 x 48 inches. Kits will be available at the meetings, or you may make your own style. No batting is necessary, but a flannel backing makes the quilt cozy. Quilts may be tied or quilted. They may be sewn together "pillowcase" style or bound as usual. They are much loved and much appreciated. Completed quilts may be brought to the meetings and Anne will deliver them to Head Start in August. To find out how you can help with this wonderful project, or to donate, contact Sammie Messick who is the Guild Coordinator for this project.
Mini-Quilt Benefit Auction
Each year at the quilt show a silent auction is held for mini-quilts made by guild members. Money raised goes to several local charities including CASA, GaDuGi (Rape Victim-Survivor Services), Habitat for Humanity, KVQG, Lawrence Social Service League, Spencer Museum of Art, Douglas County Aids Project and Watkins Community Museum of History. For more information contact Cindy Korb or Carol Jones.
